RAMANATHAPURAM: Fishermen association leaders, who convened a meeting here on Monday, came up with a charter of 10 demands that included government intervention to secure the release of the five fishermen who were detained by the Lankan navy on November 28 last year and are currently languishing in prison after being slapped with a narcotics case.President of the Tamil Nadu Coastal Mechanised Boats Fishermen Association, Venugopal, presided over the meeting.Another demand put forth by the association leaders was setting up of a breakwater harbour at Rameswaram for the benefit of the fishermen in the area.Loganathan, a Congress party functionary, and several fishermen association leaders, including Devadas, Bose, Emerit, Mahathuvam and Sahayam attended the meeting.
