Kolkata: The CPI (M) Politburo member Prakash Karat on Wednesday hinted a possible alliance with the Congress by saying that there is nothing called "yes" and "no" in politics.
"There is a mood in West Bengal to oust the Trinamool Congress government from power. We will take that into account and decide our electoral politics. Electoral tactics are not decided in the Plenum. It is for the state committees to take a call and then it is placed before the Central Committee and Politburo for approval," Karat said while addressing a press conference on the fourth day of the party's Plenum.
Karat's comment comes in the backdrop of ongoing speculation over a section of CPI (M) and state Congress leaders for a health alliance to oust the Mamata led government in Bengal.
"There can't be just yes and no in politics. The final decision in this regard is expected within the next 4-6 weeks," said Karat on possible alliance with Congress.
Meanwhile, CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said, "The state committee will discuss it and the final decision in this regard (alliance with the Congress) is expected within the next 4-6 weeks."
