New Delhi: Lewis Hamilton is fully focused on securing the constructors' championship for McLaren ahead of the much awaited Indian Grand Prix this weekend with his individual hopes of glory all but over. A tenth-place finish at last weekend's Korean Grand Prix left Hamilton 62 points adrift of the leader, Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel.
In the constructors' standings, McLaren are third, 83 points behind Red Bull and still in with a shot of securing a first team title since 1998. But Hamilton knows only a miracle from here can help his team win the Constructor Championship.
"For the rest of the year we have to try and help the team to win constructor championship. We need to try and get maximum points from all the races and hope Red Bull and Ferrari messes it up from here," he told the media here on Wednesday. "It hasn't been a great year year for me as I have retired five times this season and there has been lot of problem with the car this years but mine and Jenson Button focus now is to get as many points in the remaining races", Hamilton added in a press conference in New Delhi.
Of the Buddh International Circuit, Hamilton said: "It takes a few races to build a good circuit. Last year there were many flaws and it was not 100 per cent but I hope organisers have worked on it and it will be a good race. It's a demanding circuit and it won't be an easy race at all."
When asked about whether it tougher to negotiate the F1 track of India's roads, the 27-year-old joked: "definitely the Indian roads" while noting that India must have brilliant drivers to be able to cope with the roads here.
