TIRUPATI: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams with support of railway authorities are planning to provide more facilities to pilgrims, TTD board chairman K Bapiraju has announced. Addressing mediapersons in SVETA, here on Friday, he said that Tirupati being a pilgrim town, is the highest revenue earner for the railways, with thousands of pilgrims visiting Tirumala every day from across the country to have darshan of Lord Venkateswara.He said they have planned to construct a footover bridge connecting Vishnu Nivasam and railway station and asked the concerned officials to prepare and submit the design of the plan within a fortnight to railway DRM’s office. The DRM will take a decision after considering the designs, he added.A TTD information centre will also come up at the railway station shortly to provide necessary information regarding accommodation, darshan and other facilities, he said.Railway e-Ticket counters will also be set up in Srinivasam, Vishnunivasam and SV guest house for the sake of the pilgrims, he added.Bapiraju said chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will lay the foundation stone to the pucca houses meant for the Tirumala displaced families on Sunday and lay the foundation stone for the subway to be constructed between Srinivasam complex and RTC bus stand in Tirupati.TTD executive officer LV Subramanyam, CVSO GVG Ashok Kumar, JEO P Venkatrami Reddy, Guntakal DRM Tejenderpal Singh and other officials were also present on the occasion.
