Gang hacks cab driver to death

BANGALORE: A 30-year-old man was allegedly killed by a gang of six members here at Jalahalli village on Sunday. The victim has been identified as Hassan, a cab driver by profession.It is said that lovers enjoy while their friends suffer. But this proved fatal for Hassan, whose only fault was that he was seen along with Manju, his colleague. According to the police, it is said that Manju was in love with Sushma, a resident of Jalahalli. Due to strict opposition from parents of Manju and Sushma, the lovers had gone to Delhi and were said to be in live-in-relationship for about three months.All the expenses of their stay in Delhi was sponsored by Sushma and in addition to this, she was said to have handed over a purse of `5 lakh to her lover Manju to start a business. But Manju was said to have dragged his feet over repaying the money to Sushma which ended in a quarrel between the two a few months ago.On Friday, a Bolero cab was found chasing Manju who was walking down a street along with his friend Hassan. “About six people got out of the cab and started chasing Manju with lethal weapons. In the melee, Manju escaped, his friend Hassan was trapped by the gang members who allegedly murdered Hassan and dumped his body on a railway track at Doddaballapur on Friday,” the Jalahalli police said.Jalahalli police have detained six persons in this connection.The police suspect that the six suspects might have been given a supari from Sushma who is absconding now.
