Notorious gangster Betthanagere Seena is the man who hacked Bangalore Rural Zilla Panchayat’s JD (S) member Binnamangala Krishnappa to death on July 25, according to police sources.
They have confirmed that the dreaded killer, who was eagerly waiting to see his long-time enemy Krishnappa dead, executed the murder in person.
Earlier, the police were probing various angles like Seena’s men had murdered Krishnappa and had also suspected that Seena had given a supari (contract) of over Rs 1 crore to other rowdies to get the job done. However, investigations and questioning of several eye witnesses have revealed that Seena himself eliminated his rival. “We have gathered concrete information about the direct involvement of Seena in the murder. He himself led the assailants’ team and when his vehicle waylaid Krishnappa’s car, he opened fire at Krishnappa’s car first. As Krishnappa got down and tried to escape from them, Seena snatched a talwar (sword) from one of his associates and hacked Krishnappa to death on the spot. He also celebrated his enemy’s death by damaging the other vehicles with the same sword,” a member of the investigating team said.
“The other evidences have also prove that Seena was in the vehicle that tailed Krishnappa’s car from Sheshadripuram. He had planned the murder some two months ago and had kept a close tab on Krishnappa’s movements and finally he struck on Wednesday,” he added.
“Usually Seena got his enemies killed through his men. Only in two cases, he had personally killed his rivals. He had tried killing Krishnappa using his men twice. This time, he did not want to take a chance. Therefore, he planned, monitored and executed the murder on his own with his team,” he explained.
Meanwhile, sources said that the police have already traced his hideout and are expecting to arrest him in a day or two.
Cases against Seena
According to the police officials, Betthanagere Seena is accused in 12 cases, including five murder, two dacoity, one attempt to murder cases and stocking of illegal weapons in various police stations.
