New Delhi: Police officials on Tuesday tightened the security at Pakistan High Commission as some protesters were seen protesting against Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani ahead of the separatist leaser's meeting with the Pakistan envoy.
Delhi Police detained some protesters as the they attempted to break the security barricades.
Geelani is in Delhi to meet Pakistan envoy Abdul Basit. Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Yasin Malik is scheduled to meet him on Wednesday.
India had on Monday called off its Foreign Secretary-level talks with Pakistan, sending a strong message to the country after its envoy held an hour-long meeting with Kashmiri separatist leaders in Delhi despite a warning by India against it.
Pakistan said it was "disappointed". "We are disappointed with this move. We want good relations with India and PM Sharif's visit was first step in this direction. Bilateral talks between two neighbors are important for solutions of all problems, including Kashmir. For us, Foreign Secretary-level talks are important for future engagement," it said.
The cancellation of the talks will be a major setback to the diplomatic process between the two neighbours.
