THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Gender parks will be set up in the city and Ernakulam on the lines of the one that has come up in Kozhikode, Panchayat Minister M K Muneer said here on Friday.Briefing mediapersons on the achievements of the LSG Department on the eve of the first anniversary of the UDF Government, Muneer said that the parks were visualised in such a manner that all-round development of women was ensured. A cancer detection camp for 1,000 women will be held here on June 15.Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the ‘Nirbhaya scheme’ in Ernakulam on June 3, Muneer said.The mechanism is intended to effectively prevent atrocities against women and children, rehabilitate women victims and their children and establish a fast-track court to award speedy sentence to the perpetrators of crimes against women and children.
