Google unveils slimmer, more powerful Nexus 7 tablet with Android 4.3
A model with 16 gigabytes of storage will sell for $229, a $30 per increase from the original Nexus 7 released a year ago.

New Delhi: Google on Wednesday showcased a new Nexus 7, a slimmer version of its year-old tablet that the Internet search company hopes will expand its presence in consumer hardware and ensure its online services remain front-and-center on mobile devices.

The news comes a week before its Motorola division is expected to unveil the "Moto X" smartphone in New York. The new Nexus 7 tablet has a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels.

The tablet is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and has 2GB RAM. It will run Android 4.3 OS. The new Nexus 7 tablet has a 5 megapixel rear camera and a front 1.2 megapixel camera.

The 16GB WiFi only model is priced at $229, while the 32GB WiFi only model is priced at $269. The 32GB LTE version of the second-gen Nexus 7 tablet will be available for $349.

Google says the new line of Nexus tablets boasts a higher-definition 7-inch display screen and a processor that promises to be nearly as twice as fast.

Dual stereo speakers have been added for richer sound, and the device's battery duration has been extended by about an hour.

The new tablet will go on sale in the US on Tuesday in Google's online store and various other retailers.
