Harrisons Malayalam Ltd on Monday submitted before the Kerala High Court that it is willing to surrender 834.53 acres of excess land in four districts - Wayanad, Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Kollam to the government.
Harrisons made the submission following the order of the Kerala High Court to file a statement specifying the total area of land it is willing to surrender. According to the statistics of January 1970, Harrisons possesses 5962.35 acres of land. In Wayanad alone they have 12,675 acres.
The Taluk Land Board has ordered that a total area of 1845.22 acres of land should be surrendered by the company. However, Harrisons submitted that the finding was not true. Meanwhile, a Division Bench comprising Justice M Sasidharan Nambiar and P Bhavadasan asked the state government to produce the documents related to other lands of Harrisons, including the documents with the Kottayam Land Tribunal. The court verified the documents submitted by the state government. The hearing of the case has been posted to Thursday.
Land Revenue Commissioner Sajith Babu, Under Secretary Vijayakumar, Registration IG office Senior Superintendent Shyne and Kollam Sub Registrar Vijayakumar were present before the Court.
