HC gives go-ahead to Kudankulam

Chennai: The Madras High Court on Friday gave a go-ahead to the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) saying there are no environmental issues associated with the building of the plant.

The court also ordered the setting up of schools and a hospital around the plant premises.

A PIL had sought environmental clearance for the project before the plant is commissioned.

The PIL had also sought a ban on Russian reactors to be installed at the plant.
