CHENNAI: Students who scored high in the Matriculation and SSLC exams attribute their success to two simple steps: study what was taught in school that day and write clearly.
"It is important to study regularly and thoroughly," said State SSLC second ranker Sushmitha R, a student of Bentinck Higher Secondary School, Vepery. "I studied every day from 6 pm to 11 pm and 5 am to 7 am," said Sushmitha who scored a total of 495 marks out of 500 with four centums and 95 in Tamil. She also found the practice of studying peers' answer sheets useful.

R Aishwarya, who is the State second ranker among Matriculation students, said her success came from her resolve not to rest for the day until she had revised what the teacher had taught in class. The student of Gill Adarsh Matriculation Higher Secondary School scored 492 marks.

Rajeshwari of Holy Angels Higher Secondary School who came State third in the AngloIndian board said she never scratched out anything in her answer sheet. "Evaluators see that as indicating poor knowledge," she said.
