BANGALORE: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda and Home Minister R Ashok on Friday lauded the Australian firm, Pearls MiiHome Housing Solutions, for constructing the two storied residential building within 17 days. The firm assembled pre-fabricated panels, imported from Australia building to complete the project for the state police.According to the engineers, it takes at least one year to construct such a building under conventional method of construction.The innovation of this technology lies in a unique system of panels, composed of an expanded polystyrene core encased in an innovative steel lining.This process fastens to create a seamless, high performance structural envelope that replaces traditional frames, trusses, brickwork, plasterboard and insulation. This technology can be used to construct customised, high performance housing with flat-pack convenience.At the function organised to inaugurate the newly constructed building, Sadananda Gowda invited the firm to set up a production unit in the city and said, “It is good to see new technologies coming to Bangalore. As this technology saves time, is cost effective and does not require wood, sand and timber it is eco-friendly.”Home Minister Ashok said that after testing the structure for three months, the government will take a decision on adopting the technology for constructing over 40,000 houses for the police personnel and twelve fire stations across the state.Ashok also lauded Police Housing Corporation Chairman DGP Kuchanna Srinivas for introducing the new technology.  Pearls MiiHome Housing Solutions CEO, Mark Winfield, said that the technology took 60 years of continuous research to evolve to this state and the structures could withstand all the vagaries of nature including earthquake.As the firm had to import the material from Australia, the police department had to shell out Rs 1,500 per sq ft for construction.
