On May 24, 2023, a dacoity with murder was reported at a jewellery shop under Titagarh PS, Barrackpore PC. The five were identified as Safi Khan, Md. Jamshed Ansari, Asif Khan, Rajvir Singh and Uttam Kumar Upadhyay.

Special PP Bibhas Chatterjee, was engaged for prosecution which relied on strong technical evidences, gait pattern analysis, TIP, video enhancement techniques, other technical evidences and most importantly, matching the mac id of the Bluetooth headphone seized from the PO with that of a paired mobile phone recovered from a suspect.

Charges were framed in December 2023 and the trial started in January 2024.

Speaking to News18, Barrackpore Commissioner Aloke Rajhoria said, “I am happy that we could get conviction within 15 months of the incident with help of technical evidences, specifically Bluetooth pairing and could deliver justice.
