Until Sunday, he was seen on the television, heard on the radio and danced to in the clubs. But, yesterday was the day, that no one would ever forget, for good or for worse, especially those who witnessed him perform live! Palace Grounds was literally over flowing with a sea of people dressed in their best to party with the world’s number one DJ, David Guetta. The Grammy Award-winning artist/producer and DJ had come down to the city to perform for the second edition of the Eristoff Invasion 2012. Though the event timing was pushed forward by a couple of hours, it did not deter the crowd’s determination to witness the ‘greatest’ DJ live in action. Young and talented, Dualist Inquiry and Anish Sood performed as the supporting acts for the evening and set the mood going before Guetta stepped onto the stage. As the man himself, appeared in front of his fans, all hell literally broke loose, with the crowd gushing and screaming their lungs out. Guetta started with popular tracks like Little Bad Girl and Where Them Girls At and slowly progressed to Love is gone, a mash-up of Sexy Bitch, When love takes over, I’m in Miami and Without You.  With each song the crowd jumped higher and the shrieks got louder. In fact thanks to all the dancing and jumping, a little sand storm of sorts would rise every few minutes and die out until the next one came along. The air was charged with excitement as fans poured in from across the country and also across international borders. “I came from Chennai just to watch him perform live,” said Payal, a software engineer. Teenagers and young college-goers overshadowed the petty head count of families who had brought their young ones for the concert. But did the concert match up to its expectations? That is a dilemma many faced. For starters directions to get to the venue and ticket lanes were poorly marked and could have been done better. In terms of security, it would be hard to say that it was up to the mark for even the security staff present at the main arena did little to manage the crowd. “I expected better management. I had a few people who were standing behind me behaving in an unruly manner and when I went to complain, the security personnel standing there seemed least bothered,” said Aditi, who had come for the concert. Meanwhile, Guetta carried on spinning popular tracks one after another with a few unknown tunes thrown in between. The most intriguing part was that even though a few youngsters in the audience had no clue about the unknown tracks that Guetta played, they would yell and scream as though they knew the tune by heart.   During the concert Guetta also confessed, that until he came to India he did not know much about the country and her people. “I did not know that people here were familiar with my music. I did not know anything about India until four days ago. Now I love India and I will come once again,” promised the DJ. Guetta ended his two-hour long gig with I Got A Feeling.Unlike many other concerts, this one was done and dusted by 8.30 pm. The question that arose next was, what to do? While many took refuge on the pavements waiting for their cars to come or plans to be made, a few decided to take a walk talking about the songs, the gig and reliving every moment of the concert and the experience of watching David Guetta live. While opinions may have varied, nothing can erase the memory of watching David Guetta.
