THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The day saw the screening of the much-talked about movie ‘Adimadhyantham’ directed by Sherry. The 104-minute-long movie was screened before a packed audience in Sreekumar theatre at 3.15 p m. Those who came out of the movie appreciated its stunning shots and suitable framing. The exhilarated movie buffs carried the director on their shoulders to express their support to the movie.Iranian director Negar Azarbayjani’s ‘Facing Mirrors’, ‘Damascus with Love’ of Muhammed Abdulaziz and Vetri Maran’s ‘Arena’ are among the other much-appreciated movies screened on the fifth day of the 16th International Film Festival of Kerala.‘Facing Mirrors’ tells the tale of two women hailing from different backgrounds. Rana, a taxi driver is a  traditionalist and Adineh is a pre-op transsexual. Both meet during a long taxi ride. Rana’s mental turmoil to come to terms with the situation of Adineh turns the crux of the movie. The film was screened for the second time in the festival in the world cinema category.From the ‘Arab Spring’ section, ‘Damascus with Love’ was screened. The 95-minute-long movie was screened for the first time in the 16th IFFK. The movie deals with the efforts of a Syrian-Jewish girl to unearth her past.  The film proceeds through the discovery of the harmonious existence of many cultures in a city.Hamid Reza Aligholian’s ‘Flamingo No.13’ in the competition section revolves around the disappearance of a man who sets out for hunting. Vetrimaran’s ‘Arena’ is a story of vengeance among rooster fighters.Mohanlal released the book ‘A Darling Lover of Silver Screen’, a biography on actor Madhu penned by Vinil Malayilkada and translated by Shathrughnan at the festival office on the premises of Kairali theatre.The book was handed over to renowned Bollywood actress Shehnaz Anand.  There was a discussion on ‘Arab Films’ in the ‘open forum’. Ellis Baker, Mustafa Nuri, Hamid Reza Aligholian and Sona Albert were present.
