Chennai: "I am happily going now. I will be back as soon as possible, my dears," said Tamil superstar Rajinikanth in an audio byte recorded by his daughter Soundarya as a message for his fans late on Friday night.
The tape was released to the media minutes after the actor flew off to Singapore for further treatment. The actor had spent two weeks in a city hospital for lung and kidney disorders. The voice clip began with the actor's characteristic loud laugh, followed by him identifying himself.
"I take money for acting. For that itself you are showering so much of affection on me. What can I do in return for you all?" the actor said in an emotional tone, as he followed it with a declaration that he should conduct himself in a way that would make his fans across the world proud.
He also stated that he had God's blessings, his guru's blessing, and beyond all, the affection of his fans. "I will come soon," the recorded message said. Meanwhile, Soundarya, who is travelling to Singapore along with the actor, told media representatives at the airport that Rajinikanth was alright and was heading abroad for further treatment. They flew to Singapore in a scheduled Singapore Airlines flight.
The Superstar's Singapore visit marks his fourth admission to a hospital since April 29, when he was first rushed to a Mylapore private hospital for breathlessness and fatigue. In Singapore, where the Superstar enjoys an admirable fan base, Rajini is expected to undergo treatment at the National Kidney Foundation for about a month.
The actor was moved in an ambulance on Friday night from Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre, Porur, where he had been undergoing treatment for lung and gastrointestinal disorders from May 13. He was reportedly shifted out of hospital in a wheel chair to an ambulance, with two doctors accompanying him in the ambulance to the airport, and onwards to Singapore. The actor's ambulance was taken through a special gate reserved for VIPs (Gate 2) to the flight.
