THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: India Meteorological Department (IMD) is expecting thundershowers in isolated pockets in Southern Kerala from Monday. This is due to the flow of easterly wave to the South Peninsular region from Sunday. Though there won’t be widespread rainfall, Met feels isolated regions would get good amount of rainfall.“Easterly waves would flow from Sunday. This would cause moisture incursion from the Arabian Sea. Isolated rainfall is expected for three days. Regions south of Thrissur would get rainfall,” Met director K Santhosh said.The website of IMD also confirms the presence of a cyclonic circulation extending up to 1.5 km above sea level lying over South Tamil Nadu and adjoining Kerala.“Both these conditions are favourable for rainfall,” Santhosh said.Districts from Thrissur to Thiruvananthapuram would receive isolated rainfall till Wednesday. The thundershowers are expected to give a respite from the scorching heat. According to the Met report on Saturday, maximum temperature rose in Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur districts.It was below normal in Alappuzha district and changed little in the remaining districts. Punalur recorded the highest maximum temperature of 36 degrees celsius and CIAL, Kochi and Kannur recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 22 degrees celsius. Dry weather prevailed on Saturday.
