BANGALORE: J R Bangera, President of the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) has stated that the stretch between Sakaleshpur-Mangalore (Shiradi Ghat, NH 48) has to be strengthened on the lines of Golden Quadrilateral Triangle. “This is very essential to develop the hinterland for Mangalore port,” he noted.“All National Highways have to be free of potholes and road humps,” he said in an FKCCI release. Mangalore is the only major port in Karnataka and the importers/exporters of the state are dependent on this port and connectivity to Mangalore Port is inaccessible due to the bad road conditions of the Shiradi Ghat,” said Bangera. “It is high time that the State Government takes note of the bad conditions of the State highway and Shiradi Ghat Road and takes up strengthening at an early date, which would boost economic development in the region,” he urged the government through the release.
