Earlier on Monday, sources said that the probe into the blast at the cafe has been handed over to the NIA. A day before, sources had said that the NIA will look into the terror angle in the case.

Top intelligence sources had told News18 that the blast was caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). “An IED was used to cause the low-intensity blast. It has been recovered from the spot. Many suspects are on the radar,” sources said.

At least nine persons were injured in the blast at Bengaluru’s renowned Rameshwaram Cafe on March 1. The blast took place around 1 pm at the cafe’s Whitefield branch in Rajajinagar area.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who visited the cafe on Saturday, said that the state government will cover the expenses of the injured persons’ treatment.

“Government will bear all the treatment charges of all the patients. Around 10 people are injured. Three are here in the Brookfield Hospital and six others are admitted in Vaidehi Hospital. I am also going there. The patients are recovering and responding very well to the treatment…” he said.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Karnataka unit slammed the Siddaramaiah-led government and said that it has turned a “deaf ear” towards the blast’s victims.

In a post on X, @BJP4Karnataka said, “The Congress government has now turned a deaf ear to those injured in the terror attack at Rameswaram Cafe by saying that they will pay the medical expenses. Although six injured people have been treated and discharged at Vaidehi Hospital, no government representative or official has spoken of going and paying the expenses till now.”

“Siddaramaiah, who donates 10,000 crores of government money to get claps and whistles for the politics of favoritism ₹ will not be able to pay for the treatment of suffering lives. @INCKarnataka The government should not have suffered so much, this is the tragedy of the Kannadigas. #AntiIndiaCongress,” it added.

A day after the incident, on Saturday, a CCTV footage purportedly showing a suspect entering the cafe with a bag emerged during probe.

A case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Explosive Substances Act, Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 120B, 324 and 307 has been registered in connection with the blast.
