In Bengaluru Shocker, Woman Wakes Up Next To Friend's Tortured Body After Consoling Her On Marital Discord

A woman in Bengaluru woke up in the morning to find her friend lying dead beside her in bed. Her throat was slit and the body was drenched in a pool of blood. Only the night before, her friend had confided in her about her marital discord and told her that she feared for her life.

The deceased woman was identified as B Navyashree, a 28-year-old dance instructor and host, who lived with her husband, Kiran, at a rented accommodation in Kengeri Upanagara’s SMV Layout. Police said they have arrested the husband, who is a cab driver, on a murder charge.

Navyashree’s friend, identified as Aishwarya, discovered the body around 6 am following which she quickly alerted the neighbours and informed the police. In her complaint to the police, she stated that she stayed the night with her friend as she feared for her safety, and two retired to bed after drinking beer.

Police said Navyashree’s husband Kiran entered the house with the help of a spare key around 5.30 am, committed the crime while the women were fast asleep, and fled. Sources said there were signs of the woman being tortured before her throat was slit.

According to reports, Navyashree was from Shivamogga district. Three years ago, she and Kiran had married for love despite facing stiff opposition from their families but were having issues over the past year.

Aishwarya, who is Navyashree’s childhood friend, told police that the two women met on August 27 after Navyashree messaged her saying she was facing distress at home and outside. Her friend told her that she was having domestic disputes with Kiran, who was unhappy with the social nature of her profession and suspected her of being unfaithful.

Police said Aishwarya and Navyashree later met a male friend, who also encouraged Navyashree to file a complaint against her husband thinking police intervention might help. Later in the night around 11.30 pm, he dropped the two women home.

The women had dinner and consumed alcohol, falling into a deep sleep. In the morning, Aishwarya was woken up by the feeling of wetness and was shocked to find Navyashree lying next to her with her throat slit, police added.
