KOCHI: Now, Ireland can also learn about the Indian National Congress. INC has launched its unit in Ireland in an effort to create awareness about its ideology and history. “The aim is to make youngsters in Ireland aware about the activities and tradition of the Congress party in India. Since the youngsters here are not being exposed to the Indian culture and its socio-political issues, its difficult for them to know about the party. Thats why we took the initiative and launched a unit of the party here,” said Overseas Indian Cultural Congress (OICC) Ireland chairman M M Linkwinstar. Interestingly, the party has close to 10,000 members so far. They have been regularly organising events in accordance with the activities of Congress party. “We have been observing almost all events that the Congress party observes back home in India. Recently we conducted an OICC colouring competition for students. On Tuesday there was a meeting organised to condole the death of Minister T M Jacob,” said Linkwinstar. The OICC is in the process of organising more similar programmes in future, he said.
