BANGALORE: The Income Tax Department has set up around 100 special counters with the theme File and Smile to enable the salaried employees and pensioners to file their income tax returns easily at Gayatri Vihar on Palace Grounds.
The department has also set up bulk return receipt counters to facilitate bulk filing of returns by organisations. This year, the department has taken sufficient care to receive the refund returns separately to ensure that they are processed on priority basis. The counters will be open between 9.30 am and 5.00 pm up to July 31 the last date for filing IT returns without penalty. Besides organising tax volunteers and tax return preparers (TRPs) to help the assesses to file their taxes, the department has provided other facilities like ATMs, swipe machines, bank counters, food counters, rest rooms, photo copying outlets and stationary shops to help the assessees. The department has also set up a separate PAN counter for those who want to apply for new cards and rectify the mistakes in existing PAN cards.
