HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam general secretary P Chandrasekhar on Sunday demanded that YSR Congress president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy tender an unconditional apology to devotees of Raghavendra Swamy of Mantrayalam for hurting their sentiments. In a press release here, the TDP leader said Jagan, wearing a shirt, entered the Raghavendra Swamy temple, which was against the tradition of the mutt. Male devotees should enter the main temple in Mantralayam with bare torso wearing an upper cloth, he said. This act of sacrilege by Jagan was condemnable, he said.“It was not just that. Jagan’s gunmen entered the mutt wearing shoes. Jagan should not insult the Hindu temples. It is sad that a man who has an eye on the chief minister’s chair has no respect for Hindu customs. It was not the first incident of that kind. Jagan and his followers had entered Satya Sai Baba mandir in a similar fashion,” Chandrasekhar alleged.“It is a routine affair for Jagan to hurt the sentiments of devotees whenever he visited any Hindu shrine. Even presidents and prime ministers followed the customs of Mantralayam Mutt. But Jagan flouted them. The government should take action against Jagan,’’ he said.
