While many thought the seventh season of 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa' would give the viewers an interesting mix of entertainment, action and surprise, the much-anticipated dance-based reality show hasn't been able to exceed the expectations of the viewers. With the show not being able to create the buzz which it usually does, the makers are busy scrutinizing the factors that have worked against its popularity. Unlike last year, when the interesting combination of hosts Manish Paul and Kapil Sharma left everyone in splits, the lack of spontaneity and co-ordination between Drashti Dhami and Ranvir Shorey, ever since the show kicked off, has come across as the show's major downside. That's precisely the reason why both Drashti and Ranvir have reportedly been shown the door. Those who watched the show's last season would agree that Manish Paul-Kapil Sharma's sense of humour and crackling chemistry helped the show garner huge TRPs, and also compensated for lack of co-ordination amongst performers, at times. As reports suggest Ranvir will be replaced by 'Jhalak' ousted contestant VJ Andy and host Manish Paul will join him. Like 'Jhalak' ardent fans, we too hope the change helps the show.
Madhuri Dixit's amazing samba act in the opening episode of the show is quite frankly the most entertaining and appreciative elements of 'Jhalak' so far. For, those who thought iconic actress Madhuri Dixit was only about grace and poise, were forced to think differently. With her amazing samba act on the seventh season of the dance-based reality show 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa', Dixit proved that she can be a badass too. She totally nailed the flips, turns, tosses and playful yet acrobatic moves as she swayed with the accompanying dancers to a remixed version of the song 'Dhoom macha le'. And it is interesting to see how the actress continues to up the fun quotient each time she takes to stage. Remember how Akshay Kumar had to accept her challenge to eat lemons without changing his facial expressions to earn his chance to sit next to the star? So yes, Madhuri's comments, one-liners, her fashion choices and most importantly her dance moves continue to grab viewers' attention.
Agreed, celebrities drop in on the sets of 'Jhalak' to promote their upcoming films, but the stars who have come on the show, have entertained the guests, contestants and the viewers with their acts, quirky sense of humour and their attempts to woo Madhuri. While Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt made the opening episode special by launching the first song 'Saturday, Saturday' from their film 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania', Akshay Kumar played cricket with Sreesanth, challenged the contestants to climb up the stage with one movement, and Saif Ali Khan confessed that he is a fan of Madhuri and finds her as the only actress who is loved by people across all age groups. So yes, in a nutshell, Bollywood stars dropping in on the sets of 'Jhalak' score a point over rest of the elements.
Even though the show's current season is just three-weeks old, the contestants have managed to offer viewers a mix of aerial performances, trapeze acts, dancing at outdoor locations - against a wall, in the middle of a lake, Hologram act, all to ensure they succeed in getting the desired results and sustain viewers' interest. All in all, the show finds huge viewership because of its quality, and longevity, but to ensure it has the right sense of humour to connect with the viewers, new and better hosts should be brought in, immediately.
