BANGALORE: Unable to see his lady love hanging out with her male colleague, a jilted lover stabbed the man to death, attempted to kill the lady and injured himself after jumping from a building in a bid to escape. This incident was reported in HSR Layout first sector on Sunday evening.Koushik (24), a native of Madhya Pradesh and a resident of Koramangala, was identified as the deceased while Aparna (22), a native of Tamil Nadu and a resident of HSR Layout first sector, sustained stab injuries in the incident. The police arrested Ravi Rana Singh (25), a resident of Club Road in Parangipalya, HSR Layout, who was still under treatment for injuries sustained during his fall from the first floor. Both Koushik and Aparna were working at a business process management company while Singh worked as a store manager in a clothing company in Ali Askar Road.According to the police, Aparna and Singh studied together for four years in National Institute of Fashion Technology and were friends. Police suspected that Singh was in love with Aparna while she claimed that he was just a friend. In the last two months, Singh allegedly sent lewd messages to her on her mobile phone to which she had objected and stopped talking to him. Meanwhile Aparana and and Koushik were friends from work.On Sunday, Aparna’s house situated on the first floor was being painted and she asked Koushik to help her communicate with the labourers. Meanwhile, Singh dropped by and asked to speak to Aparna but she refused to speak to him. On seeing Koushik and being told that he was her friend, Singh left. “After 30 minutes, he came back with a knife. By that time, Koushik and Aparna were going out when Singh screamed at her saying he would not spare her and stabbed her in her abdomen, chest and back. A shocked Koushik tried to stop him, but he stabbed Koushik too in his chest and abdomen. When neighbours came out on hearing them scream, He jumped from the first floor injuring himself,” the police explained. Neighbours shifted them to a nearby private hospital, where Koushik succumbed to his injuries.The police were not ruling out chances of a triangular love story behind the incident. They were yet to question Singh after which a clear picture about his relationship with Aparna would emerge. The HSR Layout police registered a case.
