Jammu and Kashmir government suspended 40 teachers of various schools in Jammu district on Thursday for unauthorised absence from duty.

Jammu and Kashmir government suspended 40 teachers of various schools in Jammu district on Thursday for unauthorised absence from duty.

A high-level committee constituted by Director, School Education, Sourabh Bhagat found the teachers absent from duty during a surprise inspection, officials said.

The committee headed by Joint Director, Secondary Education, conducted surprise inspections at various schools and ordered suspension of the teaching and non-teaching staff found unauthorisedly absent from duty, they said.

At Government Higher Secondary School (Migrant) Jagti in Nagrota belt of Jammu, the inspection team suspended 33 staff members, including the Principal as only 7 of the total 40 officials were present, they said.

Similarly, at Government Middle School Jagti, 5 out of total 9 staff members were found absent from the duty and were placed under suspension, they said, adding two staff members were suspended at Government Higher Secondary School, Channi Himmat in Jammu city.
