BANGALORE: BJP MLA from Holalkere, Chandrappa on Friday accused former Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde of “dropping” names of former chief ministers Dharam Singh and S M Krishna from his illegal mining report following an “allurement” by Congress to make him Governor after his retirement. In a press conference here, Chandranna said that a senior IPS officer met Justice Hegde and offered him the Governor’s post on behalf of union government for not mentioning anything about Congress leaders in his report.“That was the reason why Justice Hegde did not mention anything about Singh and Krishna in the report,” Chandranna alleged. He also claimed that he had sufficient material to prove his charges against Justice Hegde.Excise Minister M P Renukacharya, who also present on the occasion, accused Justice Hegde of functioning like a Opposition party leader as long as he was the Lokayukta. The minister sought to know why he was silent on the alleged threat issued by former prime minister Deve Gowda to Lokayukta ADGP JK Goankar."Justice Hegde gives his reaction on anything and everything. But I do not know why he is silent on this issue. Is there any understanding between him and Gowda family?” Renukacharya asked.
