K N Nehrus brother Ramajayam found murdered

TIRUCHY: Former minister K N Nehru’s brother K N Ramajayam was kidnapped and murdered on Thursday. His body was found among some bushes at Ponni delta near the Thiruvalarsolai-Kallanai road here. Considered a de-facto minister from the district and the brain behind his brother Nehru’s political and administrative activities, Ramajayam faced charges of land-grabbing and murder.When he did not return from his usual 5 am walk to Fort railw­ay station even after 9 am, his wife Latha lodged a complaint with Thillai Nagar poli­ce stat­ion. Usually accom­panied by friends on his walks, on Thursday he had chosen to go alone.Police received information that a body was found at Ponni delta and a team rushed to the spot, taking along Ramajayam’s relatives. His son Vinith identified the body as his father’s. Ramajayam’s hands were tied with a steel wire and wrapped with cello-tape. The knees, legs and ankles were also tied in a similar manner, while the mouth was gagged. He was wearing a white shirt and a blue lungi. There were injuries on the back of his head. No injuries were found anywhere else on the body.The murderers left no trace, but a white tempo traveller (TN07 K 8136) was found abandoned a few feet away. The vehicle was seized. No motive has been ascertained yet. City Commissioner of Police Shailesh Kumar, who rushed to the spot, told the media, “We have found only one injury now. Details will be known after the post-mortem”.  Five special teams have been formed to trace the culprits.
