BANGALORE: The Kannada Book Authority will be holding Kannada book mela at Ravindra Kalashetra in the city. The four-day long book mela will start from January 5 and will continue till January 8 between 10.30 am and 8 pm. With 70 different publishers at 68 stalls, all Kannada books and books translated from Kannada to other languages, and so on, will be available during the mela at special discounts ranging from 15 to 50 per cent.Addressing media persons here on Tuesday, Dr Siddalingaiah, chairman of the authority said, “This is the fourth year the authority is organising the book mela. Last year, we recorded a turn over of over Rs 1 crore.”Kannada Book Authority, which has already released 15 books in Braille, now plans to release 35 more. Siddalingaiah also said that the authority has planned to convert books on science and technology, social sciences and various fields other than literature.
