KARAIKAL: In keeping with its poll promise, the All India NR Congress enhanced the old age pension from Rs 750 to Rs 1,000 per month, with Puducherry minister M Chandrakasu inaugurating the disbursement of pension at Karaikal.In a function organised by the department of women and child welfare, the minister distributed the enhanced pension to a few beneficiaries. He said that 19,051 persons would benefit from the scheme in Karaikal district.The minister also inaugurated a new building for a child-care centre (anganwadi) at Kottucherry in Karaikal district.
