Bengaluru: Even as there is not much headway in the investigation into the mysterious death of Karnataka cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer DK Ravi, the state government is likely to handover the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The state government will make the announcement on Monday in Assembly after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) submits its interim report.
Karnataka Home Minister KJ George had on Thursday ruled out a CBI probe but there have been massive protests across the state against the government demanding investigation by the premier agency.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah met Governor Vajubhai Vala and briefed him about the investigation into the DK Ravi death case.
Ravi's parents have also been vociferously demanding CBI probe and threatened suicide if their demands are not met. The family also sat in protest outside the state Assembly voicing their demands. They have been claiming that their son had informed them that he was under a lot of pressure.
His family has alleged that there was "political pressure" on Ravi and it was not suicide but a murder which should be probed only by CBI.
The issue also rocked Parliament and Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said the Central government had no objection to a CBI probe. "If state government will demand it, we are ready for a CBI enquiry," Singh said.
The 2009 batch IAS officer was the Joint Commissioner in State Commercial Taxes Department and was found dead in the Madivala locality of Bengaluru on Monday. Prima facie police said that the case looks like suicide although no suicide note has been recovered as of now.
