Hyderabad: India's Parupalli Kashyap lost in the World Badminton Championships men's singles event on Wednesday at Hyderabad.
Kashyap, who was playing against second seed Jin Chen of China, won the first set comprehensively but failed to keep up the momentum in the next two games losing the match 14-21, 21-10, 21-7 after a tough fight.
Despite suffering from severe cough and cold Kashyap had on Tuesday defeated Shahhosseini of Iran 21-9, 21-13 in the first round of the World Championships.
The Indian men's doubles pair of Akshay Dewalkar and Jishnu Sanyal also squandered a position of strength to go down 21-17, 13-21, 18-21 against 16th seed Vitalij Durkin and Alexandr Nikolaenko of Russia in 40 minutes.
Meanwhile, top seed Mi Zhou of Hong Kong beat Kiwi Michelle Chan Ky 21-11 21-15, while men's number one seed Chong Wei Lee beat Ola Fagbemi of Nigeria 21-11 21-14.
