Kavitha may contest Nizamabad LS seat in 2014

HYDERABAD: Telangana Jagruthi president K Kavitha is likely to plunge into active and electoral politics in 2014 by contesting the Nizamabad Lok Sabha seat. After the inception of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, Kavitha, daughter of TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, floated Telangana Jagruthi in 2006 and took up non-political issues concerning the region.She stepped up her activities in 2008 and has, since 2009, been playing a key role in the Telangana movement. She organised many programmes in Telangana and in Delhi.As Telangana Jagruthi president, Kavitha has orgnaised Telangana Food Festival and Telangana Batukamma Festival , fought for protection of Telangana heritage and cultural monuments, protestsed against alleged insult to Telangana accent and slant in movies.She also fought against the Polavaram project.Of late, she has taken up the Dalit cause to lure these sections towards her party so that it will be of help to her when she contests the election.TDP Dalit leader M Narasimllu, MRPS president Manda Krishna Madiga and leaders of several other Dalit organisations have been targeting the TRS chief and his family.After closely observing these issues, Kavitha has taken up the demand for installation of an Ambedkar statue on the Assembly premises. By taking up the issue, she thought, she would be answering several questions raised by TDP and Telangana Dalit leaders.CPM state secretary BV Ragahvulu and LSP president N Jayaprakash Narayan visited the Deeksha camp.Though he did not visit her, TDP leader M Narasimulu backed Kavitha's demand Ends Her 48-Hour DeekshaHYDERABAD: The 48- hour deeksha by Telangana Jagruti president K Kavitha ended on Sunday morning. She sat on the deeksha with the demand for installation of a statue of national leader BR Amebdkar on the premises of the Assembly by August 15.If the government failed to act, she said, she would represent to the President or approach a court of law to see to it that the statue was installed.Meanwhile, primary education minister S.Sailajanath has belittled Kavita's deeksha, by remarking that it was heartening to hear the daughter of a Dora suddenly speak for Dalits. He said, the chief minister had already announced that he would take steps for installation of the statue.
