Kerala: Family Suspect Murder After Veterinary Student Found Hanging in College Hostel, Six Arrested

After the shocking incident from Kerala’s Wayanad where a veterinary student was found hanging inside the college hostel, six people have been arrested.

The victim, identified as 20-year-old JS Sidhharth was found hanging on February 18 and the police had initially started investigation on it as a case of unnatural death. Meanwhile, the family has alleged that it is not a case of a suicide but of murder. They further alleged that the accused are a part of SFI, the student wing of CPIM and that the party and the college is protecting them

In connection to the incident, the police has taken one more person from Palakkad into custody who is believed to be directly involved in the incident. The accused is currently being questioned.

Opposition leader VD Satheesan alleged that the police is protecting the accused. “Despite the brutal raging and assault, the teachers, including the dean, covered it up. Are these teachers? Such teachers should not teach there under any circumstances. Appropriate action should be taken against the teachers as well”, Satheesan said.

In demand of action against the accused, Youth Congress and MSF has also staged a protest.

The state law minister P Rajeev said that action will be taken against any culprits irrespective of the organisation they belong to.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has directed the state police chief to form a special investigation team into the death of Siddharth. The Chief Minister also ordered to take strong legal action against the accused involved in the incident.
