THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Kinfra) and Ernst and Young, Global Shared Services, Kerala, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to take 60,000 sq ft of built-up area as part of the expansion of Ernst and Young on the premises of SEZ set up by KINFRA Film and Video Park, in Kazhakoottam. The MoU was signed between Tim Eddy, Global vice-chairman, E & Y Global Services and Kinfra managing director, S Ramnath. Ernst and Young GSS will open its third facility in Kinfra Park SEZ at a cost of $ 3 million. The agreement was signed in the presence of Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty, IT principal secretary P H Kurian, GSS-CBS Global leader Mala Garg, GSS-CBS Global Service delivery leader Deepak Swaroop, and leader, E & Y GSS Kerala, and director, Innovation and Research, E & Y Global Services, Binu Koshy.After signing the MoU, Kunhalikutty said that Kerala was the only state which offered single-window clearance to industries. This made it an ideal ground for companies such as E & Y to quickly start up their activities in the SEZ. It is good to see global firms taking advantage of the excellent infrastructure and support Kerala offer. The government is able to take effective steps in attracting investments to Kerala, the Minister said. Opening a third facility for GSS Kerala is important to Ernst and Young’s strategy, said Tim Eddy. “We already have highly-skilled professionals in our Kerala centre, providing key services to the organisation. This new facility would serve our growth needs very well, enabling us to expand, to meet the increasing demand for our services,” he said. Kerala has a large talent pool of IT resources and we are keen to tap it. Around 1,000 employment opportunities would be created through the new centre in two years, he added.
