KOCHI: Assembly Speaker G Karthikeyan on Thursday said Kerala, which boasts of high literacy, has to make strides in the higher education sector.He said this after presenting the KLM Award to Socialist Janata Democratic president M P Veerendra Kumar. "Though we take pride in our education, we are not doing good in the all-India examinations,’’ Karthikeyan said.Stating that it was time for Kerala to make a rethink on where it was headed to, he said the State has become a land where there are more alcoholics, more family courts and more faith.Presenting the award, he said Veerendrakumar was a multifaceted personality. ‘’He is a politician, writer and a mediaperson combined,’’ he said. MLAs Hibi Eden, Thomas Unniyadan and V D Satheeshan were present.
