COIMBATORE: Following incidents of stone pelting at Tamil Nadu registration buses in Kerala, State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) had decided to cancel 16 of its inter-state bus services to Kerala from Monday.“We are operating 16 inter-state bus services to Kerala and a few more night service buses depending on the demand of the passengers. After the stone pelting incidents, we have stopped all our bus services to Kerala. We have decided to refund the money to those passengers, who have booked their ticket in advance,” a SETC official told Express here on Monday.Similarly, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) has decided to operate its inter-state buses only up to Walayar on the Tamil Nadu border.TNSTC operates 23 inter-state bus services to Kerala from Ukkadam bus depot. The TNSTCS also operates 12 town bus services to Walayar. “After the stone pelting incidents, we have decided to operate our bus services only up to Walayar on the Tamil Nadu border.” Four buses of TNSTC, Coimbatore were damaged in stone pelting incidents in Kerala. This includes two buses which were damaged on Saturday night,” a TNSTC official told Express.Meanwhile, Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has also suspended its bus services to Coimbatore. “Earlier, we used to operate our buses up to the Ukkadam bus depot. But, now we are operating our buses only up to Walayar bridge,” said a KSRTC official.
