New Delhi: Pakistan has stooped to a downright personal attack on External Affairs Minister MS Krishna calling him "immature" for saying that bilateral ties will be affected if another 26/11 type attacks takes place against India.
With Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Abdul Basit calling Krishna immature the war of words between the two countries has been taken to a new low by Islamabad.
Basit said that the Mumbai terror attacks had local support and that Krishna needs to understand the realities.
Meanwhile, the Indian Premier League (IPL) snub, too, continues to rankle Pakistan.
Reports from Islamabad say the visit of a Pakistan Election Commission team to India has been cancelled. Earlier a visit by a parliamentary delegation was cancelled.
But with Republic Day on the horizon Delhi's attention is on the terror threat.
"People who are enemies to our country, they feel that the situation in Jammu and Kshmir is improving, normalcy is fast returning and they can't tolerate. So they want to change the trend. So there will be more attempt to infiltration, there will be more attempt to terrorist attack. We have to get ready for that," said Defence Minister AK Antony.
The signs of more attempts to infiltrate are all there with Border Security Force patrols finding a section of the wire fence in Jammu cut.
Earlier this month the Army had warned that terror bases across the LoC remained in a state of readiness. Now a nationwide terror alert has been sounded over a fidayeen strike using paragliders.
Reports from across the border suggest that Jihadi groups are being encouraged to resume operations against India.
The point has been underscored by Pakistani Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gillani's bizarre admission on Friday that Pakistan could not defend itself from terror attacks and therefore it couldn't help India.
