HYDERABAD: Land acquisition has been completed for building ropeways at two tourism places - Durgam Cheruvu in Hyderabad and Kondagattu Anjaneya temple in Jagityal mandal of Karimnagar district.
The project is estimated to cost between Rs 4 crore and Rs 6 crore and will be completed within a year from the date of commencement, according to AP State Tourism Development Corporation vicechairman and managing director Sandeep Kumar Sultania. Work on the 340metrelong ropeways, to be laid in publicprivate partnership, is yet to start.Four private firms - Damodar Ropeway Construction Co; Conveyor Ropeway Services, Kolkata; Karvy Realty India Ltd, Hyderabad; and Felix Engineering Works had filed their Expression of Interest (EOI) in May. The corporation only had to provide land while construction and maintenance cost would be borne by the developer. Revenue would be shared by the operator and the government, Sultania said. According to sources, the delay in finalising the bid for the Durgam Cheruvu ropeway here is also due to some obstacles in land acquisition at Kondagattu in Karimnagar district.
