KOCHI: The Coordination Committee on Metro Rail has decided to speed up the process for land acquisition for the widening of MG Road and Banerjee Road- two metro related projects. Ernakulam District collector P I Sheik Pareeth said that a meeting would be convened with the Revenue Secretary on Monday in Thiruvanathapuram in this regard. “The meeting is expected to discuss steps required for attaining sanction from the Revenue Department. The officials concerned will go to the state capital soon,” according to a statement issued from the Collectorate.The statement added that a ramp will be constructed near the KSRTC bus stand. The coordination committee meeting also had decided to carry out the repair works on the roads through which the traffic will be diverted in connection with the reconstruction of the North RoB on a war-footing. Earlier, the authorities of KMRL had said that the land acquisition plan would be ready in three to four days and it is planned to complete the acquisition process in six to seven months.
