If you haven’t had your fill of social networking, check out Qyuki. This platform is for users to showcase their talent. Spearheaded by two geniuses of the entertainment industry, Shekhar Kapur and A R Rahman, the site is currently in the beta phase and is scheduled to launch nationwide in November.
Shaping up
Qyuki, which means ‘because’ in Hindi, seeks to crowd source creative ideas, as pointed out by the filmmaker, Kapur. The network will also help in discovering untapped creative talent in the country. The Bangalore-based start-up is shaping up well, courtesy the networking giant Cisco, which invested Rs 27 crore in exchange of 17 per cent equity.
Creation and more
Once you login, you get a billboard (like a profile) with a banner to highlight your creations. So start uploading your work (maximum size 500 MB) under the four categories: music, photography, stories or films, and package it with picture, text or audio under the option, Creation. Like other networks, you can connect to new people, view their work and follow them under Community. This option acts like a newsfeed, featuring both popular and new users. It has also roped in experts like Suresh Natarajan (for photography), Chetan Bhagat (stories), Ranjit Borat (music) and Imtiaz Ali (films), who have initiated contests through the option, Inspirations. If you are lucky, your work will get handpicked by Qyuki or the experts.
