CHENNAI: As a precursor to Beacon’12, students of the Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA) initiated a campus greening move called ‘Trees for Tomorrow’. It is also their way of staying connected with their Alma mater. The process is simple. Seniors plant saplings which the juniors take care of. Students look at this as a move that will help the younger generation connect with nature and at the same time, give back to their Alma Mater. Just as LIBA offers an enriching environment, nurturing and enabling students to bloom, by planting a sapling and taking care of it, students can leave behind a legacy that they can come back to. In support of the initiative, all the faculties in LIBA also planted a sapling, making the campus greener.Planting a tree has long been a suggestion to better the earth, possibly even preceding the outcry and warning of global warming. It is one of those contemporary ideas chosen to mark a special occasion, or to simply make one’s landscape lush and appealing.Commenting on the initiative, Fr. Christie, Director, LIBA, said, “It is a great initiative taken by the students. Planting a tree seems like such a simple task but the truth is, it’s a very meaningful gesture as every tree makes a difference. It also means every person who plants a tree too makes that difference. It is easier than you think to do your part for nurturing greenery.”CHENNAI: As a precursor to Beacon’12, students of the Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA) initiated a campus greening move called ‘Trees for Tomorrow’.
