Major fire breaks out in Mumbai suburb

Mumbai: A major fire broke out at the Apex Industrial Estate in suburban Kanjurmarg on Friday evening, injuring several, fire officials said.

"Many workers at the industrial estate have suffered burn injuries, but we are yet to ascertain the exact number or names," Chief Fire Officer, Uday Tatkare said.

A fire-fighter identified as Chandramani Rajaram faced breathing problems while dousing the fire and was rushed to a civic-run hospital in Ghatkopar, he said.

Eight fire engines, five jumbo water tankers and two ambulances were rushed to the spot, fire officials said, adding that the fire has been brought under control.
