New Delhi: A man has been arrested along with his brother for raping his niece for nearly two decades, police said on Monday.
The accused Shashi Thakur and Mukul Thakur were arrested on Saturday by the staff of Connaught Place police station after the girl, a fashion designer, had registered a complaint against the duo in April this year.
The complainant, daughter of Shashi Thakur's sister-in-law has alleged that she was constantly being raped since she was nine-year-old.
"The girl has been living at Shashi Thakur's house after her mother and father had separated. In 1994, when she was just nine-year-old, Shashi raped her. Being scared, she did not reveal anything about the incident to anyone. Later, Shashi's brother Mukul also raped her," police official said.
Her ordeal did not stop even after completing her graduation from Hyderabad and then moving to Delhi. The duo often visited her and raped her each time, police said.
The complainant decided to approach the police in April and filed an FIR at Connaught Place police station. A team was sent to Muzzafarpur from where the two were apprehended. They have been sent into 14 days judicial custody.
