KURNOOL: Even before one could forget about the ‘treasure hunt’ at Ganta Matham in the temple town of Srisailam a month ago, police arrested a man from the place on Thursday night for alleged involvement in the same mission.According to sources, five persons, carrying drilling machines, reached the place and began searching for treasure when locals spotted them and informed the police who took one of them into custody while the others managed to escape.SI Nageswara Rao told reporters they were searching for those absconding basing on the information provided by Venkateswara Rao who was arrested. Rao told police during interrogation that he was working for Airtel and that they were drilling for erection of a cell phone tower. But neither the Airtel management nor those who accompanied him have approached police so far.It is believed that kings who ruled the place years ago, used to hide their treasure in Ganta Siddeswara Matham, half a kilometre away from the Srisailam temple. There are four other mathams near the place _ Vibhuti Matham, Rudraksha Matham, Sarangadhara Matham and Bheemeswara Matham. People believe there are tunnels around the mathams where valuables are hidden.
