Man murders paramour, slits his own throat

BANGALORE: A 42-year-old woman was brutally murdered by her 45-year-old paramour, who later tried to kill himself by slitting his throat, in Chikkabanahalli colony in Kadugodi police limits on Tuesday. It is suspected that she was murdered by her paramour as she allegedly had an illicit relationship with a younger man.The victim has been identified as Padmamma, while the accused has been identified as Anandappa. The duo were working in a garment factory at Thirumashettyhalli. The incident, which is suspected to have taken place at around 4.30 am, came to light when Vasantha, one of their neighbours and a local Gram Panchayat member, came to the water tank near their house to fetch water.According to the police, the duo had participated in a Ganesha procession that was held in their area on Monday night and had returned home late. Padmamma reportedly had an illicit relationship with another youth and it had come to the notice of Anandappa. The duo had been fighting over the matter since the past few months. It is suspected that a quarrel broke out between the duo over the same issue and in a fit of rage Anandappa might have slit her throat when she was asleep before slitting his own throat, the police said.“Both Anandappa and Padmamma were married to other people and had children. Anandappa is the father of three daughters while Padmamma had two sons. Though the duo had deserted their family members four years ago, still the duo were in touch with their spouses, who knew about their  illicit relationship. Padmamma’s husband used to visit her often when Anandappa was away, while Anandappa went to his wife’s house at Kannamangala,” the police added.Anandappa has been admitted to a hospital where he is recovering. Kadugodi police have registered a murder case and attempt to suicide case against  Anandappa. Further investigations are on.
