A newborn baby girl was stolen from the Cuddalore government hospital on Monday. The mother of the girl lodged a complaint with police after which a case was registered.
Police said the baby was born to Krishnaveni (23) and her husband Prakash, a mason.
They belonged Ayan Akaram near Kullanchavadi. The baby was born in the hospital 25 days ago but, due to health problems, the newborn and mother were still at the hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, on Monday morning, Krishnaveni went the radiology lab in the hospital for investigation.
There she reportedly met a man, approximately 35 years old, who was wearing black pants and a white shirt. The man reportedly started a conversation with Krishnaveni, who was waiting in front of lab.
The man reportedly volunteered to hold the baby so that Krishnaveni could go inside the lab for inquiries. After she came out of the lab, she found the man and the baby missing.
She lodged a complaint with the police who launched a hunt for the unknown man. People of Cuddalore demanded CCTV cameras to be set up in every ward of the government hospital.
“The Cuddalore hospital authorities and the health department officials should immediately take steps to set up CCTV cameras in every ward. Cameras will help the police find out the identity of the miscreants,” said Muruganantham, a resident of Cuddalore.
