CUTTACK: The ongoing ceasework by medicos in the SCB Medical here has brought the dengue diagnostic facilities in the premier health institution of the State to a grinding halt. Even as the dengue outbreak situation persists in several districts, the hospital has been forced to curtail the diagnostic operations on account of acute shortage of doctors. The Regional Diagnostic Centre, which had been functioning beyond time limit to conduct tests, has been pushed back by several hours. “The junior doctors constitute the major workforce. In view of the exigency arising out of the cease work by the PG Students’ Association, the centre is not able to function during the extended hours from 5 pm to 8 pm. Tests for dengue would also not be conducted during Government holidays till the situation normalises,” principal Prof DN Moharana said.
