ANGAMALY : Two pedestrians were crushed to death and another pedestrian sustained serious injury when the car in which Rural Development and Registration Minister K C Joseph was travelling knocked them down at Karayamparambu near Angamaly on Sunday evening. The deceased are Sunderesa Menon, 55, of Kandanattu, Karayamparambu and Vijayan of Maniyen House, Kuruppumpady. Thomas Abraham, 59, of Muringathara, Karayamparambu, was admitted to Little Flower Hospital here.The ill-fated pedestrians, who were masons by profession, were crossing the NH at Karayambarambu Junction when the mishap occurred. The minister was on his way to Ernakulam. He was destined to proceed to Delhi on Sunday night. But he cancelled the journey and rushed to the hospital to monitor the rescue activities. There was no police escort for the minister’s car. Jose Thettayil MLA and former MLA P J Joy visited the hospital. District Crime Records Bureau (DCRB) DySP Radhakrishnan, Angamaly CI V Babu and SI Shyju K Paul rushed to the spot and supervised the rescue operation.
